In case you are wondering, we purchased ours from a dealer in OC.
We went there at the end of March and waited 3 weeks because they didn't have the color we wanted. The car was finally delivered a few days ago.
In the meantime, the car seemed to have become very popular and I was forced to buy it at a higher price than the quote promised at the beginning.
Some dealers raised the price by almost $5000.

I was able to take advantage of 72 months of 0% interest, so my monthly payment is about $550.
The $20,000 discount seems to last until the 3rd of May.

We have no experience with hydrogen stations yet.
We have had CNG （ clean natural gas ） in the past, and they are easier to refill than that.
However, hydrogen gas stations are still a dime a dozen.
There is one right near UCI, but I have seen a long line one day. I am worried about the future ？

It's a good car for sure. I seriously considered buying one for a while, but eventually decided against it because the resale value sucks so bad. If you can afford it and live near a hydrogen station, I might recommend it.

Right? Used prices that low are either accidents or Mirai opaque. But TOYOTA is still making them. Other electric cars are safer. I can go to other states. A Camry hybrid looks better. Or a luxury car like a Lexus for less money and drive it around the neighborhood for a few years. Don't think about resale value; you might be out of business in 6 years. Or even before that.

There are several reasons for the low used prices.

1 ． First generation Mirai design is tacky
2 ． First generation Mirai is a panda from the back
3 ． Maintenance costs are unknown and likely to be high for medium to long term ownership
4 ． Hydrogen gas Not cheap if you pay for it yourself （ about $80 per fill up, 300 miles of driving ）
5 ． inconvenient to refill with hydrogen （ few current stations etc ）
6 ． first generation Mirai design is weird

I don't recommend buying a new car for cosmetic reasons, the safest choice would be Camry, Prius or Accord.
If you want to save the most money, it will be cheaper to drive a 10 year old Japanese car with minimum repairs.
If you want to save the ultimate money, drive a car without power windows or air conditioning, so there are fewer parts to break.

I may have thought a little differently before Corona than I do now. But I realized. You never know when you will die in life. Will I work hard and be thrifty for the rest of my life?

Being a plug-in, there was a government incentive (4.5k + 1.5k) similar to Mirai, so a $30,000+ car could actually be bought for $20,000 including tax. After that, they became popular because they could afford to get over 50 miles to the gallon, and you can see many of them around town these days. At the same time, the big discount is gone. If I sold it now, I could sell it for about $20,000, which means I could drive the car for free for two and a half years.

Riding a Mirai may be like having a cute girlfriend, a handsome boyfriend, a brand new bag, or a rare pet. Because it is better than normal, it also requires a certain amount of extra care. Whether that is a good thing or not is left to individual judgment. Even those who drive Teslas may have their own concerns that they can't talk to others about ？

In case you are wondering, the Mirai is a kind of electric car. There is a small hydrogen power plant inside the car, which produces electric energy to power the motor. So it is very quiet. It doesn't have the power of a Tesla, but acceleration is not bad. It seems to have more than a normal 3 liter car.

You can also see the future expansion plans for hydrogen stations on the internet, and it looks like there are quite a few planned.

Normally, any new car you buy will lose about $3,000 in value in the first year. 5 ～ $6,000 in 3 years, I think.
I think the value after 2 years is not a problem, but after 3 years I expect it to be around $10,000 at worst. Still, I think it's not bad since the real purchase price is about $12,000. Worst case scenario, if the resale value gets worse, you might want to trade it in to Toyota.
