I am currently a permanent resident of OC. I am considering returning to Japan permanently in the near future and am considering giving up my permanent residence status.

I went to the Social Security Office today to learn about my future pension plan in the U.S. I told them that I intend to return to Japan permanently in the future, and they told me that if I plan to leave the U.S., I must become an American citizen or a permanent resident in order to receive my pension. I was reminded to be very careful because I would not be able to receive the pension unless I became an American citizen or a permanent resident if I planned to leave the U.S. I thought that I would be able to receive the pension from the U.S. after returning to Japan, even though there were tax issues, so I asked the supervisor to check again, but the answer was the same. I have been divorced from my ex-husband of many years and was shocked to learn that my own ji pension and the ex-husband based pension that I was told I could choose when I reached full retirement would all be invalid and I would not be able to receive them.

I know I shouldn't doubt this because I was told by the Social Security Office, but I have lived in the US for a long time and have almost no pension in Japan, so if this is true, I have a lot of things to reconsider. If this is true, I have to reconsider a lot of things.

I would appreciate it if you could share this information with me.

I will be stationed in Irvine starting in January.
I live with my 4 children, ages 4 and 2.
We are currently living in Chicago and had no choice of a house but a townhouse because Chicago is very hard to shovel snow.
Do most expatriates living in Irvine live in townhouses, apartments, or single-family homes? ？
I know there are advantages and disadvantages to each, but I can't imagine what it would be like in a different climate than Chicago.
Also, any recommendations on areas?
I am looking for rent within $5500.

I am currently a lunch server at a Japanese restaurant. The restaurant is open all night with no lunch break, but servers rotate with dinner servers at 4:30pm.
Since there is one server for both lunch and dinner, each server gets a tip.
However, the customers around 4:30pm are more subtle; it is the lunch server who is in the middle of the meal, and the dinner server who takes the check and lowers the plates.
The dinner server gets a tip for that customer.

Is this a normal part of the server duties ？ I have a few questions about the subtleties of the shift times.
I do not place a check on a customer while they are eating before I come up, as it is against the rules.

Please let me know if there are any differences in calculation between Japanese and American restaurants.

Something where the kids work on something away from their parents and learn a lot in the process and make their parents or someone else smile as a result

For example,
・ Selling lemonade only to kids. Donate the proceeds
・ Barter from what the kids make in town and get creative until you get the desired item
・ Find wildflowers and cook them and treat the parents

Or a hands-on program to find something the kids like to do

I just can't bring myself to move the yen right now because of the amazingly weak yen situation.
At the moment, I would like to buy a house in Japan to secure a place to stay in Japan, as I would like to live a hybrid lifestyle in the future.
