■ Japanese nationals can continue to use their my number card after moving out of the country

From May 27, 2024, Japanese nationals can continue to use their my number card after moving out of the country.
In addition, Japanese nationals residing abroad who do not currently have a my number card （ must have moved out of the country on or after October 5, 2015. ） will also be able to apply for a My Number Card.

■ How to switch to a my number card for expatriates before moving out of Japan

If you are planning to move out of Japan and have a valid my number card before moving out of Japan, you can continue using your my number card by following the procedures below.

① Submit your My number card when you report moving out of the country
② The municipality will add "moving out of the country × month △ date" on the card and change the address record in the IC chip
③ Municipalities issue electronic certificates for expatriates
④ My number card for expatriates can be used after moving out of the country
*Please note that if you move out of the country without following the above procedures, your my number card will expire on the scheduled date of moving out of the country. Please be careful.
